I crumpled the paper in my hand as my brain whirled. Dante was still mad at me, that much was obvious. But to make things fair, I didn’t particularly feel kindly towards him either. Although, at that moment all I felt was guilt. Guilty that Dante was facing the punishment he was never supposed to earn in the first place. Despite what I told him yesterday, I didn’t want him to get beaten. Even if he claimed that Erik would go easy on him, the thought of him taking lashes still churned my stomach. That idiot! He confused me to no end. He was such a puzzle with so many missing pieces and my emotions would twist into riddles around him; meddling with my thought process.

I glanced again at my undressed state and turned red. So Dante had seen me like this after all! I flushed even harder. At least my long, curvy legs were the best asset I had. Dante had spelt it out clearly, that I wasn’t exactly gorgeous. Nora had always been the prettier one. And it never seemed to bother me. She was my life. Her happiness would sprout my joy and her tears, melt me down to nothingness.

I was done with not getting anything accomplished! I placed the crumpled paper on his desk and bent down to slide his drawer open and to take out my clothes. Sure enough, a pair of jeans and my red, sleeveless top was folded neatly. I couldn’t help but let a small smile adorn my face. Dante had actually thought of everything. There was definitely something he was hiding behind those horrible words and atrocious attitude. But it wasn’t the right time to go deeper into that. I had a deadline to meet.

I quickly pulled on my jeans and changed into what Dante had picked out for me. I ran a finger through my hair in jiffy, but it just wasn’t staying put. I frowned at the messy red locks and gave up.

I locked the door behind me as Dante had requested. A part of me wanted to run to him and see how he was doing. Especially since he was about to face his punishment for losing, for me. But I’d get into trouble, pulling him into the quicksand too. And plus Erik was his buddy. Enough time had been wasted. I had to focus on finding my twin.

And besides, he did owe me the explanation to how he knew my name. At least he remembered his vow. We were going to have to meet sooner than he thought. He had been pretty clear that he was going to tell me the truth when he deemed the time as right. But I needed to know the answer. I grumbled to myself, as I sorted all this out through my head.

I would use Joy’s help and then ask her where Dante would be.
